Between Industrial Insurance and Cybersecurity: risk on mind at Two Key Events in September
In September, risk on mind was represented at two major industry events: the GVNW Symposium in Munich and the IKT Security Conference in Linz. The core focus areas were resilience, insurability, business continuity management, and cybersecurity.
September: A Month of Exchange, Innovation, and Resilience
For risk on mind, September was all about personal connection, fresh perspectives, and engaging industry discussions. We were delighted to be present at two major events in the risk, insurance, and security sector.
GVNW Symposium in Unterschleißheim: 125 Years of Industrial Insurance in Transition
As we do every year, we attended the GVNW Symposium in Unterschleißheim near Munich. With over 600 attendees, the symposium is one of the most prominent events for industrial insurance and risk management in the German-speaking region. In 2026, the event held special significance as the German Association of Insurance Buyers (GVNW) celebrated its 125th anniversary. Fittingly, the guiding theme was: "Industrial Insurance in Transition between Consolidation, AI, and New Resilience".
The agenda featured high-caliber presentations and panel discussions addressing future challenges. A particular highlight was the address by former German Vice Chancellor Robert Habeck, who shed light on current economic and geopolitical developments and their impact on the competitiveness of European businesses.
For us, the symposium once again proved to be an invaluable opportunity to nurture existing relationships, gather new insights, and discuss the future of risk management, insurability, and resilience with corporates, insurers, and industry peers.
First-time Participation at the IKT Congress in Linz alongside the ZRK
risk on mind celebrated a premiere alongside the Center for Risk and Crisis Management (ZRK) at the IKT Security Conference in the Design Center Linz. Widely recognized as one of Austria's largest cybersecurity and IT security conferences, this year's event once again drew thousands of visitors and featured over 100 specialist presentations. The focus was firmly on topics such as cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, digital sovereignty, and the implementation of the NIS2 directive.
We were particularly pleased that our CEO, Stephan Dorner, was invited to deliver a specialist presentation on "Digitalization and the Use of AI in Risk Management" as part of the ZRK's session program. He demonstrated how companies can bring transparency to risks, make well-informed decisions, and strengthen their overall resilience against growing uncertainties.
In addition to the presentations, the core focus was on professional exchange and networking with experts from business, academia, and public administration. One key takeaway was clear: resilience, crisis management, business continuity management, and cybersecurity are increasingly converging and must be approached holistically.
